Aussies have some of the best red wine in the world so it is no surprise that red wine often makes an appearance at parties. Spills on carpet can happen but don’t panic! It won’t ruin your carpet forever; you just need to know how to get red wine out of carpet.
There are actually ways to remove red wine from the carpet that won't leave a stain behind. Keep reading to discover how you can tackle red wine spills with ease.
This should be your first move, no matter what kind of stain you’re dealing with. If you have a red wine spill, blot the area with a clean cloth or paper towel to soak up as much liquid as possible. For bigger stains, use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the wine. You can also try sprinkling salt on the affected area; this will help absorb the wine and make it easier to remove later.
Salt is a great, all-natural stain remover. If you have some spilled wine that has dried, you can use salt to help remove red wine stains. Simply pour salt on the stained area and let it sit for a few hours. Then, simply vacuum up the salt, and the stain should be gone. W
While salt is great for removing the stain, it can damage the fibres in the carpet, so be sure to vacuum up the salt as soon as possible. If you want to prevent this, try using table salt instead of sea salt, which is much more coarse.
Corn starch is another natural product that can help lift the stain of spilled red wine. Corn starch will dry out the stain, making it easier to remove. You can apply corn starch to the stained area with a sponge, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then vacuum it up.
Keep in mind that corn starch should be applied to a dry area. You don’t want to put it over a wet stain because it won’t be able to absorb the wine.
Baking soda is another great option for removing red wine stains from your carpet. Sprinkle baking soda over the stained area, let it sit for at least an hour, and then vacuum it up. Like corn starch, baking soda should be applied to a dry area. You can also sprinkle baking soda on top of the wine and let it sit until the wine absorbs it.
White vinegar can be used to clean red wine stain from a carpet. Simply pour some vinegar over the stain and let it soak in for 15 minutes. You can also mix white vinegar with warm water to create a cleaner. Once the vinegar has had time to soak in, you can blot up the remaining liquid with a clean rag. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the liquid.
Using a solution of water and common household detergent can also work as a red wine stain remover. Fill a bucket with hot water and add a few squirts of detergent. Using a clean sponge, blot the stained area with the solution until the stain is gone. You can also use a soft-bristled brush to help remove the stain. Just make sure to clean the bristles of any excess wine once you’re done. The only downside to this method is that the stained area may smell like detergent. You can solve this problem by simply opening a window while you clean.
Using hydrogen peroxide is another effective way to remove red wine stains. Simply pour some hydrogen peroxide over the red wine stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then dab up the remaining liquid with a clean rag. You can also add a little bit of laundry detergent to your hydrogen peroxide solution to make it more effective.
This is a great solution if you’re dealing with a fresh red wine stain. Pour club soda directly onto the wine and blot with a clean cloth or paper towel. You may need to repeat this process several times, but it should remove most of the stain.
No matter what method you choose, it’s important to act quickly. The longer the wine stains from carpet sit, the harder it will be to remove.
